Mick Waumsley has been in the Solid Fuel and Biomass industries since leaving school and over the years has had a number of senior posts within British Coal, The Solid Fuel Association, Sure Fire and Docherty.
After the 38 years of experience, Mick has again become an expert renowned in the industry for his independence and knowledge.
As the Director of Mick Waumsley Consultant Ltd he has now returned to the industry as an expert witness, consultant and trainer.
Quality Inspections & Problem Solving
Mick Waumsley Consultant Ltd provides these services to HETAS but can offer the same level of expertise to the home owner. Quality inspections of chimneys, chimney liners, solid fuel appliances and heating systems to ensure they meet current standards and regulations. This can be as a simple check of an installation or as a part of a dispute. Mick Waumsley has many years experience in acting as expert witness where poor quality installation has given rise to problems.
Expert Witness Investigations
Where a problem results in a dispute or court action Mick Waumsley Consultant Ltd provide Expert Witness Statements and reports for use in court, everything from a small claims case through to a full Criminal Prosecution.
This work now forms a significant part of the technical services provided by the company and Mick Waumsley has worked for many clients including the Police, Health & Safety Executive and many solicitors.

All expert witness reports are provided in accordance with the requirements of the Court Procedural Rule 35 and are written and investigated in a fully independent way to ensure the client is aware of the full extent of any problems as well as any contributory factors that may exist.
Heating System Design
This can be a simple wood-burning or multi-fuel stove with boiler through a link system with the stove supplementing a gas or oil boiler through to a full domestic biomass system installation. This can be from plan or involve a site survey.
Mick and his associates provide HETAS training to a number of HETAS Approved training centres such as Sure Fire Training Services, Windhager and Poujoulate, this service cwn be made available to other centers if requested. Mick is approved by HETAS as a trainer and assessor for all their approved courses and is a TAQA qualified assessor and internal verifier.
Non-HETAS training on solid fuel subjects can also be made available in both basic introductions through to a more advanced supplement to the HETAS courses and the IDHEE Domestic Heating Design Course.
Mick has worked with a number of organisations and companies providing technical consultancy including Windhager, Wood Energy Solutions, ECO Angus as well as HETAS and BPEC.
This ranges from system design, protocol development to technical writing and is a qualified Mechanical Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Domestic Heating and Environmental Engineers.
